Pier and Beam Foundations are the most common type of foundation in Louisiana, -mostly because large portions of Louisiana are prone to flooding- but it’s also due to the age of our buildings. It’s common to see structures that were built before the 60’s still being used. Slab Foundations did not become commonplace in Louisiana until about 1960.
